Read MoreWhen Loyce Ong’udi returned from Rabuor, she shared the story of finding her mother caring for Natasha and other young children in her own home. The compassion of Rosemell, taking in and nurturing these little ones started us on our way to the establishment in 2012 of MEC (Mwanzo Education Center) which served at that time as an early childhood development center, providing nursery school services to children of ages two through six.

Read MoreWithout income, families struggle to feed their children. In May, with your help, Mwanzo was able to support the families of 100 MEC students by providing soap, handwashing containers, and hand sanitizer. Mwanzo also provided food for the families most at risk of hunger.

A 2018 graduate of Asumbi Teachers Training College, Kevin overcame significant adversity to become a teacher. Kevin lost both of his parents at a young age and was raised in Rabuor by his grandmother.

Read MoreRisper is a grandmother who has full guardianship of three grandchildren between the ages of five and ten. She also works as a custodian at the Mwanzo Education Center (MEC). When Loyce first asked Risper to describe a day in her life, Risper did not directly respond, but beamed with a smile while tears rolled down her face. She remarked, “I don’t think I’d still be alive [without Mwanzo]. Thanks for your kindness and that of your friends. Who else would employ an old woman like me?”
Read More2019 is off to a fast start in Rabuor, Kenya, where Mwanzo is nearing completion of our new school. This year we have 45 new students at our Mwanzo Education Center! And every day, between 10-20 laborers and volunteers are working to finish all the second-story classrooms.
